WIN Acquires Yakkertech and Launches SmartPark, Unlocking Pro-Caliber Tech for Every Diamond

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WIN Reality, the leader in VR and AI-powered training for baseball and softball athletes, today announced the public launch of SmartPark, an automated performance capture system that brings professional-level game insight to any diamond. SmartPark captures real-time data from every pitch, swing, and ball-in-play and delivers actionable insights to umpires, coaches, players, fans, and recruiters.

The launch follows WIN Reality’s acquisition of Yakkertech, the industry-leading optical pitch-tracking platform trusted by collegiate and professional programs. Yakkertech’s camera technology now powers SmartPark’s data capture system, forming the foundation of WIN Reality’s connected athlete development ecosystem.

SmartParks capture more than 125 live performance metrics, ranging from pitch velocity, movement, and spin efficiency to bat speed, swing path, batted-ball data, and swing biomechanics. These insights will connect directly into the WIN platform, creating continuous feedback loops between live competition and player development. Insights captured during games fuel training between games through WIN’s development tools, including TrainVR, SwingAI, and Blast Motion.

“By acquiring Yakkertech, we now own every key link in the development chain,” said Chris O’Dowd, CEO of WIN Reality. “From live competition to training and evaluation, SmartPark connects those moments in real time. It’s the first system designed to unify game operations, player development, and fan engagement on the field.”

SmartPark also introduces an officiating assistant that supports umpires with Automatic Balls and Strikes (ABS), fair-or-foul calls, and pace-of-play tools. As MLB continues to pave the way for automated officiating at the professional level, SmartPark brings those capabilities to amateur baseball and softball, helping address the growing umpire shortage while delivering consistent, objective call accuracy.

SmartPark fundamentally transforms the game for everyone involved. Athletes and coaches receive actionable in-game feedback that carries into training. Fans and families follow live pitch and swing analytics live on the WIN mobile app. Recruiters gain access to reliable, verified performance data at scale. Operators streamline game management and reduce staffing requirements while delivering a higher-quality game experience.

More than 2,500 SmartParks are already committed for installation beginning in 2026, marking the start of a nationwide rollout. WIN Reality’s long-term vision is for every baseball and softball field in the country to become a SmartPark.

The post Tether’s Uruguay Bitcoin Mining Plans Could Be Over appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Tether’s push to expand Bitcoin mining in Uruguay has stalled after the state utility cut power to its local partner.  UTE, the national electricity provider, halted supply in late July over unpaid bills totaling nearly $5 million. The dispute also froze expansion efforts in the country’s Flores and Florida regions. Tether’s LATAM Bitcoin Mining Expansion Plan Hits Major Roadblock The USDT stablecoin operator entered Uruguay in 2023, promising renewable-powered Bitcoin mining. Uruguay’s abundant wind and hydro capacity made it a prime site for sustainable energy projects.  Sponsored Sponsored Tether partnered with a licensed operator, Microfin, to build facilities and secure long-term electricity deals. However, tension grew as costs and guarantees mounted. UTE required large deposits to secure the energy contracts, while Microfin sought tariff adjustments.  Negotiations led to a memorandum of understanding in June, but arrears remained unresolved. The failure to settle debts triggered the shutdown. Crypto Twitter Criticizing Tether’s Uruguay Backtrack. Source: X Tether had announced broader plans to control about 1% of the global Bitcoin network. The firm pledged hundreds of millions of dollars in South American mining projects, including sites in Paraguay.  The Uruguayan expansion was meant to anchor those ambitions. The company has emphasized that USDT reserves remain separate from its operational ventures. Mining revenue and energy assets are intended to diversify Tether’s business beyond stablecoin issuance.  Earlier this year, it also acquired a stake in Latin American agribusiness to link stablecoin use to commodity trade. The setback in Uruguay raises questions about the viability of energy-intensive mining in high-cost markets. While Paraguay and Texas have attracted miners with cheaper electricity, Uruguay’s grid is stricter on guarantees.  For now, Tether’s talks with UTE continue, but the timeline for restarting operations is unclear. Overall, this highlights the risks in tying stablecoin companies to volatile mining ventures. Tether…
