Aster Enters the Layer 1 Arena With a Derivatives-First Vision

Aster has officially launched the testnet for its layer 1 blockchain, marking a major step in its push toward decentralized derivatives infrastructure. The timing of this move reflects a broader shift within DeFi, where perp DEX trading has emerged as the dominant driver of on-chain volume. Traders increasingly demand speed, reliability, and capital efficiency, especially during volatile market conditions. Aster positions its network as purpose-built for these needs rather than adapting general blockchain designs. The testnet launch opens the door for developers and traders to explore this focused approach.

The rise of perpetual futures platforms has reshaped decentralized finance over the past year. Perp DEX trading now captures a significant share of total decentralized exchange activity, often surpassing spot markets during periods of high volatility. However, existing blockchains frequently struggle under this load, leading to congestion and unpredictable execution. Aster layer 1 aims to address these pain points through a performance-first architecture. By launching its testnet early, the project signals long-term commitment rather than short-term hype.

Why Perp DEX Trading Shapes the Core of Aster Layer 1

Perp DEX trading imposes technical demands that differ sharply from standard DeFi applications. High leverage positions require instant execution, predictable fees, and reliable liquidation mechanisms. Many blockchains experience delays or cost spikes during market surges, which directly harms traders. Aster layer 1 incorporates derivatives-focused design principles from the ground up. This approach reduces friction during peak activity and supports sustained trading volume growth.

Market volatility amplifies the need for consistent performance. Traders often execute multiple actions within seconds, including margin adjustments and position closures. Aster’s infrastructure targets low latency and fast finality to support these behaviors. Instead of retrofitting solutions later, the network integrates them at the protocol level. This design choice gives perp DEX trading platforms greater operational confidence.

What the Testnet Launch Signals for Developers and Traders

The testnet launch represents more than a technical milestone. It invites developers, validators, and traders to actively participate in shaping the network. Builders can deploy applications, test smart contracts, and simulate real trading conditions. This phase helps identify performance bottlenecks and security risks early. Aster uses this feedback loop to refine core systems before mainnet deployment.

Developers working on perp DEX trading platforms can experiment with order execution logic, oracle integrations, and liquidation engines. These components define the user experience in derivatives markets. By supporting them during the testnet launch, Aster accelerates ecosystem readiness. Validators can also assess network stability under different loads. This collaborative testing phase strengthens decentralization from the outset.

Inside the Architecture Powering Aster Layer 1

Aster layer 1 follows a specialization strategy rather than broad generalization. The blockchain optimizes block production, transaction ordering, and execution paths specifically for financial applications. This focus improves efficiency during periods of heavy usage. Perp DEX trading platforms benefit directly from predictable execution and lower operational risk.

The architecture supports parallel transaction execution, which improves throughput without sacrificing security. This capability allows the network to handle surges in activity during volatile market events. Fee stability remains another priority. Traders rely on cost predictability when managing leveraged positions. Aster’s design addresses this requirement at the protocol level.

Aster’s Position in a Crowded Layer 1 Market

The layer 1 landscape remains highly competitive, with many projects offering similar promises. Aster layer 1 differentiates itself through specialization rather than scale alone. Perp DEX trading continues to grow faster than most DeFi sectors. This trend creates opportunities for purpose-built infrastructure.

General-purpose chains often struggle to meet derivatives-specific demands. Aster’s focused design could attract both builders and traders seeking reliability. Clear positioning reduces ecosystem fragmentation. It also helps concentrate liquidity within fewer platforms. These dynamics often determine long-term success.

DeFi Platform Operating on BNB Chain Attacked by Hackers! How Much Lost? Here Are the Details

The post DeFi Platform Operating on BNB Chain Attacked by Hackers! How Much Lost? Here Are the Details appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. New Gold Protocol (NGP), a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform operating on BNB Chain, was hit with a $2 million attack on Wednesday. The attack targeted the protocol’s liquidity pool, resulting in significant losses. NGP Protocol on BNB Chain Loses $2 Million Web3 security firm Blockaid explained that the attack was based on price oracle manipulation. The attacker targeted the getPrice function in the NGP smart contract. This function calculates the token price by directly referencing Uniswap V2 pool reserves. However, according to Blockaid, “the instant price from a single DEX pool is not secure because attackers can easily manipulate reserves with a flash loan.” The attacker executed a large swap using a flash loan for a large amount of tokens. This increased the pool’s USDT reserves, decreased the NGP reserves, and caused the price oracle to report an artificially low value. This manipulation allowed the contract’s transaction limit to be exceeded, allowing the attacker to acquire a large amount of NGP tokens at a low price. On-chain security firm PeckShield reported that the stolen funds were transferred through Tornado Cash. The NGP token price also plummeted by 88% following the attack. This incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting DeFi protocols. Last week, the Sui-based Nemo Protocol suffered a similar $2.6 million loss. According to Chainalysis data, more than $2 billion was stolen from crypto services in the first half of 2025 alone. This figure is higher than the same period in previous years, indicating increasing security risks in the sector. *This is not investment advice.
