The wine industry is poised for a shift in portable service with the announcement of Porta, a rechargeable smart wine cooler set to launch on Kickstarter in March. Developed by Metaproi, this device claims to be the world’s first truly portable wine chiller, eliminating the need for ice buckets, power outlets, or external power supplies while maintaining precise temperature control.
At the core of Porta’s innovation is a smart temperature configuration engine that adapts to each wine’s specific profile. This technology ensures bottles are served at their ideal temperature from first pour to final glass, preserving the intended characteristics as envisioned by winemakers. The system pairs with a companion mobile app that simplifies the process: users connect Porta to their phone, photograph their wine bottle, and let the system handle temperature settings automatically.
The device’s fully rechargeable internal battery represents a significant advancement in portable wine service. This feature allows Porta to deliver premium wine experiences in diverse settings—from home entertaining to outdoor events—without reliance on traditional power sources. Beyond functionality, the cooler is designed as a visual centerpiece, with aesthetics that complement both casual gatherings and formal networking events.
Sustainability considerations are integrated into Porta’s design through material choices. The internal frame utilizes recyclable aluminum, while the interior padding incorporates recycled cork, reflecting environmental responsibility without compromising performance. These materials contribute to a product that balances ecological awareness with the practical demands of wine preservation.
The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will provide detailed product specifications and demonstration videos through the official Kickstarter platform. Early backers will have access to exclusive discounts and limited-time pricing as part of the launch initiative. This approach follows a growing trend of consumer products entering the market through crowdfunding channels while addressing specific niche needs.
Porta’s development represents more than just another cooling device; it addresses fundamental challenges in wine service logistics. By combining temperature precision with genuine portability, the product could potentially change how wine enthusiasts approach serving in various environments. The integration of smart technology with sustainable materials suggests a broader industry trend toward connected, environmentally conscious consumer products that enhance rather than complicate user experiences.

Institutional clients will also have access to an over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk and multiple liquidity venues. The extension builds on BitGo’s previous Markets-in-Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license, also issued by BaFIN, and adds trading to the existing custody, transfer and staking services. BitGo acquired its initial MiCA license in May 2025, which allowed it to offer certain services to traditional institutions and crypto native companies in the European Union.Read more
