Coinbase Teases ‘New Era’ Amid Prediction Market, Stock Trading Leaks

The post Coinbase Teases ‘New Era’ Amid Prediction Market, Stock Trading Leaks appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. In brief A veteran tech leaker shared screenshots of a potential Coinbase prediction market integration and stock trading feature. Coinbase did not deny the leaks, but rather teased a “new era” for the platform being announced via a December 17 livestream. The leaked screenshots suggest the Coinbase prediction market would be powered by Kalshi. Coinbase has teased a “new era” for the crypto exchange, with “exciting product announcements” coming on December 17. A company representative pointed Decrypt towards the tease in response to questions about leaks that appear to show the platform testing prediction market and stock trading features. Jane Manchun Wong, a self-defined “hacker turned builder and consultant,” posted screenshots on Wednesday that appeared to show a Coinbase prediction market. It appears that Coinbase’s prediction market platform will be offered through an integration with Kalshi—the second-largest prediction market by trading volume, per Dune, behind Polymarket. Listed markets shown in the screenshots include, “Will Trump release any of the Epstein files?” Wong also posted screenshots that suggest that Coinbase is exploring the possibility of offering common stock and ETF trading through its app. No specific stocks were shown. She added that public access to the prediction market integration appeared to have been pulled following her social media share. Wong told Decrypt that she obtained these images by reverse-engineering the publicly available app code on Coinbase’s website. Wong has made a name for herself by uncovering new features and functionality from tech platforms and popular apps, such as breaking the news on Facebook testing a dating feature and discovering Airbnb’s flight integration feature. Coinbase did not deny the leaks to Decrypt, but rather said, “Tune in to the livestream on Dec 17th to find out what new products we are shipping.” The spokesperson also pointed Decrypt to a Tuesday X…

Coinbase seemingly vanishes prediction market pages after leak

The post Coinbase seemingly vanishes prediction market pages after leak appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Coinbase seemingly hid prediction market features after a serial tech company leaker shared screenshots that seem to show an upcoming Kalshi partnership and stock trading service.  Jane Manchun Wong claimed on X today that “Coinbase Predictions is no longer publicly accessible after my initial scoop about their upcoming feature” and showed a screenshot of what appears to be a blank prediction market page on Coinbase.  Wong previously revealed what appears to be a Coinbase page with various prediction market features, such as price charts, various prediction markets on offer, and short explainers on how prediction markets work.  One image appears to show a warning disclosure that suggests Coinbase would be partnered with the prediction market firm Kalshi. It reads, “Prediction markets are offered by Coinbase Financial Markets through KalshiEX LLC.” Read more: The Kalshi vs Polymarket KOL Wars have begun Wong later revealed another screenshot appearing to showcase stock trading features that would allow users to trade common stocks and ETFs.  It’s unclear exactly how Wong obtained the screenshots or if they show a definite upcoming feature. She claimed that the prediction market page is “out there publicly. You just have to spot it.”  She added that there are more features visible to her but said she thinks “it’s overplayed and not very noteworthy.” Coinbase prediction market leaker has exposed big tech before Wong is a prominent white hat hacker and tech blogger that’s revealed numerous upcoming features within the tech world from some of the biggest companies out there, such as Instagram, Airbnb, and Facebook. This month alone, Wong claims to have exposed:  A new “Astrology Mode” on the dating app Tinder An AI agent for the payments firm Stripe   And an end-of-year review for the self-driving car firm Waymo Adding to the plausibility of this leak is the…

Landscape of Prediction Markets: Centralization vs. Permissionless Protocols

Landscape of Prediction Markets: Centralization vs. Permissionless Protocols

The post Landscape of Prediction Markets: Centralization vs. Permissionless Protocols appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Prediction markets, once niche experiments, have evolved into significant financial instruments. These platforms, where participants trade on the outcomes of future events, have attracted significant attention due to their demonstrated ability to be more accurate than traditional polls and commentators, particularly concerning critical political and economic results. Their rise is further fueled by the desire for individuals to leverage their knowledge for profit and a broader cultural obsession with real-time data and future outcomes, leading to hundreds of millions, and sometimes billions, of dollars flowing through these markets weekly. The industry’s success has validated a multi-billion dollar demand. The current environment is primarily shaped by a duopoly, Kalshi and Polymarket. These two platforms, while seemingly in direct competition, represent two different approaches to the same market. Kalshi is positioned as a regulated exchange, while Polymarket is the leading decentralized, crypto-native marketplace. A new contender, Rain, has recently emerged, built with a distinctly different, permissionless architecture aimed at addressing the structural limitations of the incumbents. This comparison examines these three notable platforms, Kalshi, Polymarket, and Rain, focusing on four core areas: scalability and liquidity, outcome resolution and trust, user experience and accessibility, and the fundamental tension between decentralization and centralization. The Central Constraint: Market Creation Liquidity While the prediction market industry often focuses on metrics like trading volume and active users, the true barrier to massive growth is a structural bottleneck known as “Market-Creation Liquidity”. This refers to the speed, cost, and accessibility for any user to create a new, tradable market. The current dominant models Kalshi and Polymarket operate under a “publisher” model, acting as gatekeepers, which limits their ability to fully scale. Kalshi: The Regulatory Bottleneck Kalshi’s market position is defined by its compliance-first approach. As a centralized, US-based platform, it is fully regulated by the CFTC as a…

Coinbase Builds Early Prototype of Prediction Market Feature

Coinbase Builds Early Prototype of Prediction Market Feature

The post Coinbase Builds Early Prototype of Prediction Market Feature appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Key Takeaways: Coinbase appears to be testing a lightweight prediction market module. Early screenshots show event cards, outcome buttons, and timing details. The feature fits the company’s steady move toward more on-chain tools. A small interface leak this week revealed that Coinbase is experimenting with a prediction market feature. The company hasn’t addressed it publicly, but the preview spread quickly across crypto channels. Early Signs of a New Market Tool Researcher Jane Manchun Wong posted images that showed a simple layout with a few sample events and two choices for each one. It looked like the kind of early build that teams often test internally before making broader announcements. The screenshots didn’t come with context or explanation, but they made it clear that Coinbase is working on a system where users trade on event outcomes. The design did not follow the heavy, derivative-style look some platforms use. It had a more stripped-down feel — one event per tile, a short description underneath, and a deadline showing when trading closes. The whole thing came across like a test environment where the team was experimenting with how much information to show without overwhelming the user. What stood out most was the straightforward voting-style structure. No charts, no leverage sliders, no complex instructions. Just two buttons. That simplicity is common among newer on-chain prediction tools because most traders prefer a clear setup when the outcome is tied to real-world data. How This Category Fits Into the On-Chain Shift Prediction markets used to be a fringe idea in crypto, mostly because interfaces were clunky and settlement rules were messy. Recently the space gained traction thanks to platforms that proved people actually want a place to express opinions on specific events — from economic releases to token-related milestones. Coinbase’s interest doesn’t come out of nowhere.…

Coinbase Prediction Markets Expand Via Kalshi Platform

Coinbase Prediction Markets Expand Via Kalshi Platform

The post Coinbase Prediction Markets Expand Via Kalshi Platform appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. A new Coinbase prediction markets initiative appears to be taking shape, with leaked images revealing a Kalshi-powered platform for event-based trading across multiple sectors. What do the leaked Coinbase screenshots reveal? On Tuesday, tech researcher Jane Manchun Wong shared leaked screenshots suggesting that Coinbase is preparing a dedicated prediction markets website. The interface displays Coinbase branding and structured market pages, together with an FAQ section and onboarding guides tailored for new users. The service appears to be built on Kalshi, the federally regulated prediction market approved by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). One screenshot states that the product is offered by Coinbase Financial Markets, the exchange’s derivatives arm, “through Kalshi,” underscoring that it would rely on Kalshi’s regulated infrastructure for compliance. Moreover, the images show a standard event-trading layout that seems to support USDC or USD positions. The menu lists categories such as economics, sports, science, politics, and technology, with wording that hints new markets would be added on a frequent basis. How does this fit into the Coinbase Kalshi partnership? Coinbase has signaled interest in event-driven trading for some time. In July, the company told CNBC that it intended to add prediction functionality as part of an overarching strategy to evolve into an “everything exchange” spanning spot, derivatives, and novel financial products. That direction became more explicit on Nov. 13, when Coinbase and Kalshi publicly unveiled a collaboration allowing the exchange to serve as custodian for Kalshi’s USDC-based event contracts. This agreement, detailed in Kalshi’s own market documentation, positioned Coinbase as a key infrastructure partner for regulated event trading. Further details on Kalshi’s CFTC status can be found in the commission’s designated contract market order. However, the newly leaked screenshots point to a deeper integration, with Coinbase not just acting as custodian but apparently fronting its own…

She shared some screenshots on X to back up this claim. The images also showed that the project will be backed by the prediction market company Kalshi. Back in 2024, Coinbase was one of those firms that challenged prediction market rules from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). To this end, it wrote in a letter signed by its…
